We are often asked about the documentation included in our Curriculum Kits. Any curriculum handbook will set the tone for the year, and you want to make sure it will be a good fit for your family.
Our Curriculum Handbooks are simple, easy to use, and emphasize independent study as early as possible. Our guides are designed to get you up and running quickly without overwhelming you with tedious or confusing information.
Each Curriculum Kit comes with its own Curriculum Handbook, a soft-cover, 8.5" x 8.5" manual, easy to reference as needed.
There is also a reading challenge in every grade level. All of the information is in the Curriculum Handbook, including choosing which challenge level will work best for your child.
Your guide is as simple as we could make it. It includes an annual planner and weekly checklists, the absolute backbones of Timberdoodle's Curriculum Kits.
There are also short overviews of each item in your kit. This is ideal for refreshing your memory on why each item is included. We've also thrown in our tips or tricks to make this year more awesome.
Finally, we'll conclude with favorite articles collected in our 30+ years of homeschool experience.
Online Scheduler
The most important part is the online schedule. Included with your Curriculum Handbook will be access to the Timberdoodle Scheduler site, which will allow you to customize your schedule the way you want it.
You can do things such as:
- Customize your start date and number of weeks
- Build in vacation weeks
- Add or remove items or alternate courses
- Print checklists
- Choosing which courses you want to do on which days
- Add in a second student or teacher
- Add in chores or extracurricular activities
If your schedule changes mid-year, no problem; you can add things in or adjust it when you need to. You can print it in large font for the beginning readers, but even pre-readers love crossing things off their list.
Having a printed schedule moves you from micromanaging your students to encouraging them to be responsible for their own work. Learning to be an independent learner is an invaluable lesson in itself! A weekly checklist is the perfect blend of enough structure to finish in a timely fashion and enough freedom that your adventures won't make for stressful catch-up days. But if you prefer a daily list, that is also available.
Note: The Curriculum Handbook comes completely free with its respective curriculum kit. However, we've also made them available for purchase at your request. Due to the proprietary nature of these Curriculum Handbooks, they are non-returnable. (If you have any questions about the contents, please don't hesitate to contact us to inquire before you purchase this non-returnable item!)
